Ledger | General Journals | Greater than ledger maximum date: 2026-02-28
Issue:
When attempting to post a General Journal, the system displays the following error message:
“Greater than ledger maximum date: 2026-02-28”
Cause:
The transaction date you are trying to post falls outside the allowed posting range, as the Ledger Closed Up To date is set too far forward.

Resolution:
- Navigate to:
Utilities → Setup → Company Details - Open the Closing Dates tab.
Update the Ledger Closed Up To date:
- Set it to the previous financial year-end date.
- Example: 28/02/2025 for the 2025 financial year.
(While you can set this to any date, it is recommended to use the prior financial year-end.)
- Click Accept to save the changes.
Outcome:
You will now be able to post the General Journal entry without the error.

Note:
This solution also applies to transactions processed in the Cashbook module.
The issue has been reported to IQ.
