This article explains how to use the Stock Take module with the CipherLab scanner in the IQ system.
It covers how to perform a stock take using the Completed Stock Take process and how to configure a Bin.

For demonstration purposes, this guide is based on IQ version 2025.8.0.1.
In this example, stock will also be counted according to a bin utlising a complete stock take.
Navigate to Stock ---> Utilities ---> Stock take
Before we can count according to bins, we need to configure the bins for counting.
Click the Setup Parameters button and select Reporting Bins Setup.
Click the Add button to add a bin, followed by clicking on the Ok button.
You may, however, name it anything you like, as long as it does not exceed three numerical or alphanumeric characters."
To edit or amend a bin, click the Edit button.
Use this option if you only want to rename the existing bin without creating a new one
To delete a bin, click the Delete button.
This option will delete the bin.
To exit the screen, click the cross "X" button at the top right-hand corner or press the Esc key on your keyboard.
We are going to initiate a stock take.
To proceed, click on the Start New button below on the stock take module.
The Stock Take Setup window will appear with all the settings.
Since we are going to use the stock take scan method via the Cipherlabs scanner, click on the radio button Cipherlabs Scanners.
Click on the Ok button to proceed to begin the process.
When reviewing the Status field, the system will indicate to you that a Full Stock is in effect.
Take note of the [Cipherlabs Scanners] indicator that will also display in the Status field.
Click on the Capture Data button.
The following screen will appear below. "Stock Take Activity"
It is important that you allocate the scanner to a bin.
To allocate a scanner, select the Allocate Scanner button.
To allocate the scanner, click on the Allocate button.
Click on the Allocate button.
Select the Allocate Selected option.
When the scanner is correctly assigned, the screen will display as shown below. (The colour of the font will also display in yellow, but the line colour will be in blue.)
The Type field will display Full or complete stock take, indicating that a full stock take will be performed.
The BIN Location will appear blank initially, but will be populated once the stock take scanner is assigned to a bin.
If the scanner is configured correctly, the display will appear as shown below.
To verify that the scanner has been assigned the correct BIN location, navigate back to IQ and open the Allocate Scanner screen
Note that the Bin location will have the 1 in the field.
On the Stock Take Scanner, select Option 1, Telnet.
Select option 1. Scan Bin or press 1 on the keypad.
Fill in the bin number.
In this example, we will enter bin 1.
The Scanner will display like below when the Bin is opened.
Proceed by clicking on the Enter key on the Scanner. (Blue line just above the ESC key on the scanner.)
Once the bin has been assigned, select Option 2: Scan Barcode.
After scanning a barcode, the scanner will display the information as shown below.
Press the Enter key on the scanner to proceed.
The scanner will jump to the Quan: field, where you can enter the quantity.
Press the Enter key again on the scanner to proceed.
When you navigate back to the IQ stock take capture screen, you will note that the item will be populated as below.
